Workplace cycling: turning Mobility Week into a lasting service

A European initiative, a project at site level

From 16 to 22 September 2026, European Mobility Week takes the theme “Mobility for Everyone”, with particular attention to intergenerational fairness. For a business, this means solutions adapted to employees’ profiles, abilities and journeys.

We recommend using the week to test specific use cases: reaching another building, attending a nearby meeting or trying a commute. Each trial provides useful observations before choosing fleet size or shelter location.

Start with actual uses and barriers

An initial review can be very practical: which journeys do employees want to make? Do the routes feel accessible? Where can they park? Do they need electric assistance, a locker or help getting started?

This approach defines a coherent initial scope. A shared fleet serves occasional business journeys; an assigned bike supports regular use. The choice depends on observed needs, working hours and local conditions.

Treat parking as part of the service

The European Declaration on Cycling, signed in 2024, identifies secure parking, public transport connections and access to electric bike charging among the factors supporting cycling. It is a European commitment framework; obligations applying to a building must be checked separately.

At your site, we propose reviewing access, visibility, weather protection and ways to lock bikes properly. Racks, a shelter or a secure room can be complemented by a pump, a repair station and suitable user facilities. ECOMOBIPARK supports this infrastructure component.

Build a simple experience for teams

The offer starts with a few questions: how do users book a bike, who handles reported problems and how is maintenance organised? An app, clear access rules and an identified contact give users a straightforward journey.

BICILUM coordinates the mobility programme and fleet. BICLOO provides bikes and maintenance. The contract specifies maintenance, assistance, insurance and its coverage, and the selected digital services. The aim is an organised service with a scope understood from the outset.

Measure what supports decisions

In France, the Employeur Pro-Vélo label, developed by FUB, illustrates how these initiatives can be structured. When consulted on 20 September 2026, its website displayed 985 certified sites and 630,000 employees covered. These figures describe the reach of the label; they do not measure the results of each business.

For your project, we propose directly useful indicators: users, borrowing frequency, bike availability, satisfaction and car journeys actually replaced. A pilot can provide a basis for gradual expansion using your own organisation’s data.

Plan the budget and services from the outset

We support projects in France and Romania with configurations adapted to the site and local requirements. The study brings together equipment, installation, services, schedule and operating conditions.

Regular maintenance, user support and workshops with local associations and NGOs can be included in the agreed programme.
